Thing About Episode 3: KENDALL GOUGH

We had an intimate group of gatherers this month, which lent itself to more discussion than ever. Plenty of discussion about celeb sightings, run-ins and dish happened as we fired up the collective conversation.

Kendall has been taking a UX (user experience)/UI (user interface) boot camp from Designlab, looking to add to her arsenal of skills beyond being everyone's dream server at the West Village's hottest Italian restau, Via Carota. The more income revenues, the better! Her program focuses on building usable, intuitive websites for clients from the bottom up.

Tonight, we tested her prototypical site based on a fictional company trying to recruit wine enthusiasts to up their wine knowledge. We clicked and clawed our way through the website, giving feedback about what made sense and what we wanted to see differently from the screens. Honestly, seeing the master diagram of her page "flows" was a window into why websites are so very complicated and constantly glitching. Meg brought her personal expertise into the convo. We chatted about some of our favorite websites to visit and the various reasons they kick ass (beyond their content premise). We also chatted about the beauty of simplicity we miss from the days of Blogspot, craigslist and 311. Mel Nel's fave site is Laraaji's running blogspot.

Of course we wrapped with a proper Shakeout, led by Abbey. Song below.
